I decided to figure out what all the buzz was about w/ these Stephanie Meyers Vampire books. I wasn't going to go there, but a Christian friend of mine absolutely loved them, so I thought I'd at least give the first book, Twilight a try. WOW!! I really couldn't put it down. What a great teenage love story. It is very similar to Romeo and Juliet. I would (and am) even going to let my daughter read it. No language what-so-ever. No sex. No gore. Just a sweet love story. The vampires in the book do not actually "hunt" humans they hunt animals, and not because they don't prefer human blood (cuz I guess it tastes better), but they choose to stray from the normal vampire behavior. it's a unique take. Resisting temptation is a major theme of this book. The vampire falls in love w/ the woman, but it is difficult to resist the temptation to take her life because her blood smells esp good. The vampires that hunt humans are seen as evil. Of course you have to have a battle of good vs evil. It was a fun read. I'm excited to delve into the next book, New Moon. I doubt the movie will be as good as the book (so many things get left out), but I'm excited to see it too as it was filmed just a few miles from here.
